About the Author

Darwin “Casey” Diaz is a native of El Salvador and a former gang leader. Growing up on the mean streets of Los Angeles, he was forced to fight for his life. He was eventually incarcerated as one of the most violent criminals in California and placed in solitary confinement. About the Author

Jason Lutes was born in New Jersey in 1967 and grew up reading American superhero and Western comics. In the late 1970s he discovered Heavy Metal magazine and the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, both of which proved major influences on his creative development. Lutes graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in illustration, and in 1993 he began drawing a weekly comics page called Jar of Foolsfor Seattle’s The Stranger. Lutes lives in Vermont with his partner and two children, where he teaches comics at the Center for Cartoon Studies.

I have been waiting anxiously for Jason Lute's conclusion to _Berlin City of Stone_ and _Berlin City of Smoke_. The final installment was, therefore somewhat of a let-down. Perhaps it is a function of so much time having passed since I last revisited his work, or perhaps it is simply a change in taste, but the artwork seemed more simplistic (maybe hurried?), lacking in detail relative to his earlier work, and the story-lines seemed disjointed._Berlin City of Light_ is set in 1932/1933, the city at the cusp of the Nazi ascendency to power, the Braun family split over their political leanings, in effect a microcosm for Berlin (and Germany.) The attitudes, dialogue and perspectives of the characters needed to be more fleshed out - as it stands, they each seem to be taking and acting past one another, undoing so in a rather shallow fashion - more detail in character development would have gone far to remedy this.The conclusion of the book - the arrest of Ossietsky (a vocal opponent of the Nazis), the family split (as, indeed Berlin would be for the next 50 years) was bitter-sweet and poignant, the concluding panels showing the tremendous destruction of Berlin following the war, the wall, the "change", and Potsdam Platz at the turn of the 21st century. I love Berlin, and clearly so does Lutes. While the graphic novel has some serious shortcomings, it is, I think a fitting closing to the series.

Though if Lutes had followed through with the large of cast of characters in the same level of detail as the first two books, he might have wound up in the same bind as George RR Martin. Instead, he let them fade out.

I have literally been waiting years for the publication of this last installment his trilogy. The first two volumes were fascinating; this last one is a perfect conclusion. I have a great deal of personal interest and understanding of the time and place he portrays, and his presentation of it is spot-on accurate in all respects and wonderfully illustrated. The characters in this novel--both fictional and historical--come vividly alive. Lutes' work is yet another great example of the creative heights that have been achieved recently in the graphic novel genre.

I read this book in one setting. Yes it came with different characters and was fast-paced. However the scriptures and the spirituality was outstanding. I love there Pastor in the Liberty Fellowship Church. He get's up reads his scripture, preaches his word and opens the door for those to heal. Benjamin G. Adams and Camille James are our primary couple. Benjamin Adam's mother Ms. Ellen hosts Sunday dinner every Sunday after church to the lost, needy, neighbors and family. Sitting around the dinner table and communicating with family is a lost gem in the 21st century. Benjamin took one look at Camille and knew he found his Eve then she got hit by a drunk driver. This story line surrounds co-workers an close friends surrounding Benjamin and Camille. The love, the honesty the realistic story line had me hooked. Intimacy, growth, trust, suspenseful, fast paced and intriguing. Loved this story-line and the plot. Time to finish the series.

Loved it! The story was well-written, fun and engaging. It flowed easily, detailing how relationships are tested. It was easy to visualize the different scenes in the story. Problems emerged and yes, the struggles are real. At times, I thought I had it all figured out, but no, the situation changed, and here comes a curve ball. The relationship between Benjamin and Camille was simply touching and romantic. Kevin and Paige’s relationship needs a whole book, if you catch my drift. Oh, Paige!!! And then, there was Karen and Frankie with a relationship like no other. All I can say is, oh wow.The author did an excellent job showcasing these diverse characters and their issues. Their personal battles were grueling but I was encouraged by their journeys toward forgiveness and restoration. It was clear that when we don’t deal with past issues they become giants in our lives. The few sermons throughout the book were sound and inspirational. This story a good display of faith at work, and the importance of having a relationship with God.Can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Great job, Genevieve Woods! Highly recommended. This book is not only a captivating book to read, but is full of excellent advice! This is why I thoroughly enjoy Gene Woods' books. Some of my favorites are: "resist temptation by setting limits"; "Don't stir up or awaken love, until it pleases"; "seeking after earthly things, instead of seeking Your will". I especially like: "...the praise & worship team...breaking up the fallow ground with their ministry of songs. Their songs planted the seed for today's Word." I will think differently about worship, although I already love the worship time! It's hard to pick one favorite character, because I love how the author has woven them all together! You MUST google the song "All I'll Ever Ask." I read this out of order, but each book of this series can stand on its own. This book should speak to everyone and well worth reading!

I'm new to Genevieve Woods books. There was a lot going on but once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Benjamin and Camille had serious issues along with their family and friends, but GOD. Love at first sight, it does happen! I did know what was going to happen next. At times, I was like are you kidding me??? I was sad when it ended, but glad for another series after this one. I will read more of your books!! Genevieve you are added to my list of Authors whose books that I read!

Ben blew me away with that prayer. Okay, I had to mention that first. A man who prays for his future wife is the only man to marry in my book. When Camille was hit my the car, it was so suspenseful and shocking.You know the book is good when secondary characters have a place in your heart. Kevin and Paige easily became my favorite set with their differences and I rooted for them all the way to the end. I loved the cookie scene.There's drama throughout. Dead girlfriend's who have too much hold on the living and more. This is a very good story to read.

I was introduced to this author on FB. I read the first book in the series and wanted more, so I bought the next one, and the next, and the next one. I'll try some of her other books. I enjoyed her writing style. It was easy and the characters were relatable. I believe I completed the series within two weeks.

Upon beginning this series, I felt that it was the typical story of Love At 1st sight, but upon completion I realized that it was so much more! To me it was a story about RELATIONSHIPS (with God, between friends and that as lovers). I liked the way the author dealt with the myriad issues couples, family and friends deal with in their relationships (hurt, grief, abandonment, belittling, contempt, etc.) and how she used the Word of God to relay a message to the reader of hope and restoration! The characters are all relatable and I can't wait to read "After Church" to find out if Benjamin and Camille make it to the altar.

Powerful story with some real home hitting points. The come to life opportunities of worshipping with friends and family brings this all full circle to the fact of a family that prays together stays together and blood doesn't always have to be apparent to do so.
