Lughat ul Quran is a dictionary which contains all the words and terms used in the Quran with meanings which were taken at the time of the revelation in the 7th century. The meanings of the words change with time and it is important that meanings taken at the time of the revelation be available to understand the message of the Quran. It is a very comprehensive work based on the translation from the original work done in Urdu by G.A.Parwez. The dictionary is based on the roots of the words used in the Quran and thus gives the basic meaning and its derivatives. The Quran addresses the human intellect and reasoning to draw our attention to our creation and its higher purpose of self-development. Any reader of the Quran who wishes to understand its message and values this lughat is an invaluable aid. The reading of the lughat in itself makes many issues clear and since the Quran presents a system called Deen for the mankind, this aspect becomes clear as one goes through various words, verses and terms noted and expanded in the lughat. The beauty of this lughat is that there are verses quoted on a term which provide cross reference and thus save time. I bought a few copies of this book when it was first released. I gave both my husband and my step-daughter copies because they help me run our flea market business. I have read my copy of the book several times and often find myself browsing through the table of contents when I am brainstorming different marketing strategies to apply to my business. One of my favorite parts of the book is Part 15 titled "Spoiled Prospects and Customers Are Loyal". In that section, there are 7 short chapters that help me remember that my customers drive my business and that I need to reward my best customers.Every chapter of the book is short and to the point. Most chapters offer you an actionable marketing tip or a new way to view your business. The only down side to that is that you may find yourself reading more than one chapter at a time and trying to decide which tip or idea to take action on first.I consider this book to be my small business marketing toolbox. I can use the ideas ("tools") in this book to build and/or fix my business just like I would use the tools in my home toolbox to fix/repair things in my house. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who owns a small offline business and would like to learn how to creatively market and grow that business.

I have been an ardent 'apprentice' of Jim Cockrum for several years now, so I had already learned about 1/3 of the strategies mentioned in the book. Before I struck out on my own, I attempted implementing these strategies at my previous employers' companies, trying to grow their businesses. More often than not, I got FIRED because of it! Why? It's simple, and it falls right in line with the book's content. The 'old guard' in marketing is dead and 6-feet under. While 99% of marketing executives (like my previous employers) spend millions of dollars on lame-brain marketing tactics that sound sexy but just don't work (again, again and again), entrepreneurs like Jim and I (and thousands of others who have followed his advice) are building 6-digit revenue streams - real, wholesome businesses, mind you - using proven no- or low-cost tactics, and then 'rinsing and repeating', and reaping the rewards. Thank you Jim - the Eddie Van Halen of Marketing (innovative, fearless, and always emulated but never imitated).

Jim Cockrum is the real deal and this book is chock full of good tips and info. I'm only halfway through the book and already feel like I'm swimming in actionable stuff. You may not feel like you get the nitty gritty on how to implement all the ideas... but here's a tip: if you like one of the ideas in the book, just go to youtube and or google the idea, and you'll find plenty of people showing you the nitty gritty. This is the book to point you in the right direction.

jim cockrum is a marketing genius! I actually read this book once already BEFORE i bought it- i borrowed it from a good friend, and couldnt put it down, once I started reading it! It has SO many resources and ideas, that I couldnt take enough notes, there are just too many.i recommend reading it straight thru at first, and then come back to it as a note-taker. i give it all high marks, it is a true winner.If you are intending to launch a career online in any way, this is an ESSENTIAL tool to have, without a doubt.

I have followed Jim Cockrum for a while, and been a student of his coaching program. I will tell you that his ideas and guidance have literally changed my life at a time that I urgently needed a change due to unfortunate circumstances. I truly believe that Jim Cockrum is one of the few marketers that truly cares about his customers and students, but more importantly this guy knows his stuff and keeps up with trends. You simply can't go wrong with anything Jim puts out or endorses, and this book is no exception. Buy it, buy it, buy it! I cannot praise this book enough, and I look forward to future book releases from Jim. I have the Kindle version, but I am going to buy the actual book because I know I'm going to be re-reading and re-reading this for years to come and want a physical copy. I've had an ongoing interest in the plain people, including the Amish and Conservative/Old Order Mennonite groups for the past twenty years. During that time I've read close to two dozen books on these fascinating people. Hands down, Stephen Scott's is the authoritative overview of the various Mennonite groups, and clearly delineates the differences and similarities between then. Scott provides the reader with a brief history of each of these Mennonite groups, and notes their distinctive practices. Because of the breadth of coverage, I have Scott's book in a prominent place on my bookshelf, since I often refer to it. So, if you're looking for, say, an overview of the Weaverland Mennonites, this is the first source to consult.

I've read more than a dozen books on the Plain People, particularly the Amish and Mennonites. Stephen Scott's overview is one of the best when it comes to describing the Mennonites and showing the difference between different Mennonite groups. The book gives a brief history of each of these branches of the Mennonites as well as a description of their practices. Despite my familiarity to the subject prior to reading Scott's book I learned quite a bit that I didn't already know, including information on some of the more fascinating of these groups, such as the Weaverland Mennonites (Black Bumper Mennonites), and the Amish Mennonites, whom I first encountered on a visit to Lancaster County (PA).

Although I am an outsider, I have had a nearly two decade fascination with the Plain People in general and the Old Order Amish and Old Order and conservative Mennonite groups in particular. Not surprisingly, I have read several of the standard works on these groups and their practices. The overview by Stephen Scott is one of the best in describing the various Mennonite groups and differentiating them one from another. Combining brief histories of each of these groups with a description of their practices, Scott's book provides a more than adequate introduction to each of these groups without getting too bogged down in detail. From reading this book I learned quite a bit that I didn't know beforehand, including something about the history of the Black Bumper (Weaverland) Mennonites, a group on which I was seeking information ever since I first saw a black-painted bumper on a car in the parking lot of the farmer's market in Bird-in-Hand, PA some years ago. I was also seeking information on the Amish Mennonites, and this book helped me gain a better idea concerning their origins and practices as well.I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a not-too-detailed overview of these conservative and Old Order groups.

Best book i have read. I was looking for an insight into Paris and its quirks. I have always loved Jeanne damas’ effortless cool style and was so excited to read this book. Hours passed by and not even once i felt like i was reading a book. It felt like I was a part of the place and its people. Paris has always inspired me but this book certainly gives more than one could hope to know by just visiting . Highly recommended with a glass of wine.

I'll admit it: ogling pictures of Paris and reading about the Parisienne lifestyle is one of my guilty pleasures. I get that it's exoticizing, etc. but I'm going to let myself slide on this one.I figured I would add this book to my small stack of "pretty to look at and dream of being that girl" books... but it turned out to be a lot more. The inspiration for this book was the November attacks in Paris, and the authors wanted to re-learn to love their changing city. The women they interview span the neighborhoods and represent different ages, careers, races, ethnicities, and perspectives. I found it really interesting to read about what each woman thought was important, and the interviews seemed to carry a unique voice for each subject.Combined with the beautiful, moody photos, the humorous interjections to lift up a sometimes heavy topic, and the tips for places to visit (already mapped for my upcoming trip), this was a real winner.

Nice reading before bed but nothing to rave about.

How to interview your friends, write about your favorite clubs, behave like this is how real women in Paris are and call it a book. Disappointing. Fluff.

The women were interesting and the book was informative and a lot of fun. I could clearly see the differences in the lives they led in Paris, compared to the USA. I'd love to live in Paris.

Pretentious. An ego-driven book used to flatter and gain favors in the fashion world. I could omit 85% of the writing here because ça m'ennui -- I find it to be a narrow definition of the female in Paris and rather dull. Only one woman out of the 20 was interesting. It was Sylvia Whitman, the daughter of George Whitman, the former owner of Shakespeare and Company. I don't know that her story in the book is that compelling, but having met George and visited Shakespeare and Co., I found it interesting to learn about her relationship with her father and her new role at the helm of the store. The hidden gems in this book happen in-between all the flattery. These sections are titled "Our Paris" and give tips on places to eat, shop and experience culture in the city. These are valuable bits of info and I enjoyed reading them. Adding it all up, 7 pages on Sylvia plus the 20 or so pages of city secrets = 27 pages that make the book worth the read, but not a purchase. Check it out from your local library and scribble a few notes!

Living our best lives is about embracing ourselves - our flaws and our assets, our seriousness and playfulness, our beauty and our unsightliness. I love reading about women who are loving themselves just the way they are because they inspire me to do the same. Will this book change your life? "Bad Kitty" has an attitude problem. He's the original Grumpy Cat, Garfield at his snarkiest, the morality of an alley cat, part feral and part foolish. He acts awful just because. And he's funny, very funny. Read with authority and arrogance, pre-readers love him. He's everybody's rotten inner child come out of the closet to express his displeasure with the world. Pair the book with the "Bad Kitty" stuffed toy and it's the perfect gift.

My granddaughter loves this series and when this arrives for me to wrap I was surprised by the two "bites" taken out of the book (the bites are actually cut out and not black as shown in the picture). I no longer have the book to post my own picture... anyhow, I wrapped the book in white butcher paper and tied with a pretty bow. I then took an exacto knife and cut out the paper to match the "bit out" sections. Everyone at the party was in stitches, and my granddaughter anxious to see what was inside, as some critter had taken two bites out of her present. If you try this you will also need to wrap the book in a several layers of tissue paper before the butcher paper or the title will show through (and the tissue made the bites stand out). The "bites" don't show very well with patterned paper, but any solid should do.

Bad Kitty wasn't always a bad kitty, in fact she used to be a good kitty, until the day there was no kitty food in the house, only 'healthy' food. Bad Kitty then proceeds to destroy the house to show her displeasure. Once appropriate food is provided, Bad Kitty becomes good once more, although the reward she receives for her good behavior implies that her good behavior is not going to last. The following books contain the same sort of humor. Interestingly several of the follow-up titles are chapter book length.The author manages to insert ABC lists four times into Bad Kitty, which is quite an accomplishment in and of itself, but he also keeps the story moving forward to hold childrens' interest. I have shared this book with my kindergartners and they enjoyed it greatly. The colorful illustrations and design provide a nice complement to the wacky parts of the book. Recommended.

I found this at the library the other day and took it out for my kids - when we finally got around to reading it we had to keep it longer - the boys wanted to read it every night, take it to church, take it to school...Basically this is a quadruple alphabet book - it goes through alphabetical lists of the foods Kitty doesn't like, the myriad of ways in which she was bad, the foods her owner bought to placate her, and the many reparations Kitty then made for her badness.The illustrations are charming (I especially like the little fang kitty develops when she becomes bad), and the need to use the whole alphabet results in a broader vocabulary than is found in most children's books. It is wonderful for reading aloud (especially when the boys provide Kitty's sounds effects, e.g. "hack, hack!"), and the opportunities to point out someone else's outrageously bad behavior are very welcome to my pair of naughty small fry.I think this book could be enjoyed by kids of almost any age, as with "The Stinky Cheese Man," which I started to read to my eldest at age 2; kids can enjoy quite sophisticated humor given a little background information, and they really like being "in" on jokes and sharing knowing smiles. My 6-year-old is a beginning reader and can use it to sharpen his decoding skills while laughing out loud.The only reservation I have is that it does present as "yucky" several of the foods I try to feed my family...Still, I am adding it to my shopping cart today; as noted by other readers, it is a charming gift, and I really should pass one on to my brothers (for their kids, yeah, that's the ticket)...

My four year old little girl loved when I read this book to her last night. She laughed her head off, the whole time. The illustrations are cute, and I love the little bite mark details on the book. I'd recommend this book to anyone with a child.

Too funny, super cute and great for kids who are learning the alphabet. My son loves the bad cat collection and this one is his favorite, we always get this book for his friends as part of a birthday gift.

I purchased Bad Kitty for my (then) 7 year old son last year after reading positive reviews and getting a chuckle out of the excerpts. My son is a reluctant reader who is far more interested in sports and video games than reading, so finding books to capture his attention has always been a challenge. However, he is just absolutely in love with this series and this really gets him excited to read.While we have a bad kitty of our own, I'm quite sure any child could take joy in this book/series thanks to the humorous story lines and illustrations. I believe my son enjoys the book also in part to its comic book-like design.I highly recommend this book for 7-9 year old independent readers. It is humorous, vivid, educational and fun. My son literally screeches with laughter while reading these books and has even gifted a copy to his school library to share with other students. We have gone on to purchase all of the other books in the series, much to his delight, and enjoyed them all. We are still waiting for Santa to bring us Bad Kitty v Uncle Murray, but Happy Birthday Bad Kitty is our personal favorite so far.

I'm sitting here reading this book now and it's the best background primer you can get on what is happening in today's news, what caused it, and what we can do about it. Any candidate for office would be well-advised to study it carefully for a deeper understanding of his or her own responsibilities. Amply footnoted, it withstands the critique of the skeptic and the praise of the patriot. I bought it for my family and sent it to my friends as a must read for such a time as this.

Not western societies and culture! This well written book by Jay Sekulow simply explains the mortal threat of a Russia- Islamic axis to western civilization. He begins with a concise history of the Middle East from the Ottoman Empire up to today. After explaining Middle Eastern events in the last one hundred years he shifts to Islam and the Iranian Islamic Revolution.This reading brought back memories of the research I conducted 25 years ago while studying Islam for my war college thesis. Mr. Sekulow in a very short time explains a very complicated subject to westerners who have not been paying attention to world events in the last 40 years. One thing that is absent from this book, which should be included, is the Crusades of the 12th and 13th Century where westerners conquered a peaceful Caliphate of the Levant and it took 88 years to evict them. Page 141 illustrates Khamenei promising Israel's destruction in 25 years from 2009, 88 years!One of the main points of this book is Islam, a shame culture, very similar to the Japanese Culture prior to WWII. The honor and-shame tactics that drove Japanese soldiers to use kamikaze suicide tactics and a pattern of using suicide attacks rather than surrendering are inherent in this culture which we are witnessing world wide today. Sekulow is warning westerners of the coming movement by the Islamics for -complete world domination. Iran has been entered into alliances with Syria and now Russia to wage war on western allies and Israel. It is interesting the latter a 90% Orthodox Christian country in bed with an Islamic global movement?This book is required reading to every westerner or people who enjoy personal liberties as a wake-up call for what will come! What will come is a global reckoning chess match with radical Islam that is fast approaching! Sekulow is ringing the alarm, Wake up!

I thought I understood the centuries old conflict in the Middle East. Well, I didn’t. 9/11 opened Americans’ eyes, but we quickly shut them. BIG mistake. Sekulow takes readers back to the very beginning, eons ago, and explains where this conflict was born and why. America, WAKE UP! Your great-great grandchildren need to learn what is taught in this book from their great-great grandparents NOW, or there won’t BE a U.S. of A in 100 years. If this ideology persists: to destroy all Western culture and have everyone bow to one god we don’t believe in (or at least have the RIGHT to choose not to, or the right not to believe in one at all), and follow laws in a book that are ludicrous (not to mention a society that treats women as sub-par humans), then we are truly doomed. Read this book—it WILL open your eyes.

An excellent analysis of the current global chess match. I don't believe there is a more timely book on the market, as the narrative addressed in this book unfolds daily in the newspapers.

On the face of it, this book is an introduction to the Middle East with special emphasis on "Islamic terrorism." The current conflicts involve both acts of individuals and the acts of nations. Nations typically act from worldly purposes different from the religious purposes of individual terrorists. The author wants to show us the cause of the current turmoil and where it is headed. This book is one of a genre, and reading it, you need to consider possible baked-in assumptions. Some readers will find my summaries boring, but I'm dealing with a general introductory book and want to get everything straight.The author starts with an introductory sketch of Middle East history, beginning in the nineteenth century when, he says, the Ottoman Empire, that great Islamic realm, began to decline, up to the present. (Actually the Empire was declining well before then with the siege of Vienna in 1688.) During World War I, it collapsed entirely; its fate was left to Britain and France, who decided how to be divide it between them. The author's recap covers the history up to today. There are a couple of errors and omissions. The author explains British interest in Arabia as due to oil although there were no oil discoveries there until the 1930s. Also the author could have at least devoted a couple of sentences to the Arab-Jewish disturbances of 1922, 1929, and especially 1937-1939, which did much to create inter-group hostility.Of course a bare historical narrative does not do much to explain Islamist terror. The explanation is in theology. The God of Islam is very austere. There is no Trinity as in Christianity [to link the divine and the human] and no doctrine of grace or of personal conscience." The impersonal and distant nature of Allah engenders a ritualistic and formal religion in which the individual can have no hope of personal salvation through faith alone. Instead, a Muslim must secure salvation through his works." (p.43) (There is some disagreement on the question of faith vs. good works. The reader may want to look at other sources.) In addition, "Islamic culture is a "shame culture". In a shame culture , individuals are encouraged to take any course of action necessary to avoid public shame, even if it requires secret wrongdoing, because the extrinsic value of honor is more important than intrinsic values of truth, justice, and whether one is actually guilty." (p. 46) Jihad and "martyrdom" (meaning being killed in the act of jihad) are certain ways to get into heaven. (p. 45) All of this is supported by references (the book is saturated with footnotes.)After a chapter on Sharia (to me irrelevant), the author tackles the question of ex-President G. W. Bush's characterization of Islam as "a religion of peace." The Quran contains multiple verses that command peace -- as well as violence. Muhammad had some followers in the earlier part of his life, in Mecca, and the Quranic verses of that period teach a message of peace and forgiveness; but his life was difficult because Mecca was a center of polytheistic worship. He and his (then) few followers fled to Medina. "He began receiving revelation that taught outward struggle, or jihad with the sword, against his enemies." (p. 83) The question is which time period is authoritative. There is a rule for Quranic interpretation, called "abrogation", that if one verse commands one thing and a later verse commands a contrary thing, the later verse is to prevail. Perhaps we should assume the worst, then; but I'd suggest there is possible ambiguity as to the correct sequence of the Quran. Th author considers the two main sects of Islam, the Sunni (the great majority, centered in Saudi Arabia and most of the Arab countries) and the Shia (the minority, living mainly in Iran, Iraq, and Bahrain). The course of history over the last thousand years has made the Shia bitter enemies of the Sunni. They are basically the two sides in the current civil war in Syria.However, the players in the current Syrian conflict can be grouped in four ways -- Syria, nominally Shia (although actually partly Sunni as well, and ruled by another sect known as "Alawites") ; Iran, almost entirely Shia; and a number of Sunni and Shia rebel factions, some of them terrorists of the worst type. And there is Russia. Syria and Iran are fighting for the survival of the current regime while the rebels are trying to replace it. The US has attempted without success to get the parties together and create a new government of "moderate rebels". Russia has intervened on the government's side with highly destructive airstrikes which have been characterized as war crimes, but which have turned the war around. This is the "conventional war" aspect, in addition to the terror aspect. As I see it, Russia has changed the war into something new. Not counting the US, her GDP is about three times that of the next largest player, Iran. She has an air base in Syria as well as a port, and sells Iran large amounts of advanced weapons. The author entertains what look to me like lurid visions of an expanding Iran but seems a little more modest about Russian ambitions. I think that there will be other Middle East states acquiring nuclear weapons. This book warrants careful reading but with a critical eye.

Fantastic! I LOVED every word and I'm in the process of reading it again. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in what is going on in this chaotic world.

Good summation of how we got to our current balance of power between US, Russia, and the Middle East. Also a solid contrast and history of the Islam vs Western democracy conflict. The writer supports his view that the "Obama vacuum" created Isis and has strengthened Iran and Russia. Quick read for anyone who wants to get a sense of how and why we are fighting a war against radical Islam.
