If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. This novel is Susan Wiggs in top form. Beautiful, classic, timeless story in which two people from completely different social and cultural worlds meet and fall in love, but even while they are drawn together, they are pulled apart by their obligations and perceived responsibilities to others. Caleb, from the Amish community, a strong, thoughtful man caring for his brother's orphaned children, finds himself drawn to Reese Powell, a young, ambitious, driven doctor who works at a city hospital and comes from an entirely different world. But Reese and Caleb each awaken dormant longings and dreams in the other--and each must make life-changing decisions. I found myself on the edge of my seat, with a lump in my throat as I read all the way through to the perfect ending (you won't want to miss it). Between You and Me is a poignant, satisfying tale about love, family, the lies we tell ourselves and the ways that we make our way toward the truth.

This book is brimming with emotions...love, faith, dreams, disappointments, hope. From the very first page of the prologue I was enraptured by this story. Reece and Caleb are two people whose paths were never likely to cross, until a tragic accident brings Caleb from his Amish community to Reece’s modern, fast-paced world. I loved watching their relationship develop, first as friends, and then slowly into something deeper and wonderful....but how do they overcome their differences and the intrusions of living life and remaining true to themselves? Their journey was a story of discovery, their feelings deep and often conflicted, as they test whether their differences are too much to overcome. What struck me the most was how, despite their outward and obvious differences, they were both struggling with the expectations of others, wanting to do their best not only for themselves, but also for each other and for their families. This book is a wonderfully warm-hearted and tender book.

Between You and Me is about two adult children struggling to chart their destinies despite the crushing expectations of domineering, controlling parents. While their milieu's were drastically different, Caleb and Reese had remarkably similar similar childhoods.Caleb's Amish family have lived on the same land for six generations. Reese's parents and grandfather were pioneering, wealthy physicians in Philadelphia. Caleb didn't grow up with electricity, a phone, or indoor plumbing; he'd never seen the ocean or flown in a plane. Reese went away to boarding school and collected achievements which would bring her parents' dreams of an Ivy League education and prosperous medical career to fruition.After his brother and sister-in-law were murdered, Caleb returned home to become guardian to his niece and nephew and to protect them from his father's abuse. A devastating farming accident compelled Caleb to defy his father and save Jonah's life. He and Reese meet in the emergency room, and they discover they have a lot in common.

What a great story. I enjoyed it so much. The love story gently grew thru many hurdles but the outcome was perfect. Buy it and enjoy a wonderful story of pain, differences, family and most important true love.

This is truly a different book that was heartwarming, informative, and so very different than other books by Susan Wiggs. I was concerned at first that it was going to be boring and flat, but it was anything but that. I could not put it down, not with all the exciting and unexpected things at every turn. I loved it!!!

A book that needs to be read by everyone. The thought provoking exploration of the effect of parental expectations from the two different cultures is something every parent /child should read. The reconciliation of a variety of relationships is something that engages the reader from page one. I suspect that with each time this book is read the reader will find new lessons to explore. This is such a deeply rich book that it is hard to pinpoint any one element that would appeal to a reader. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I will just say that I hope everyone gets as much pleasure from Ms. Wiggs gift as I have.

Susan Wiggs writes wonderful stories about believable people at choice points in their lives. This novel is about cultures clashing. I wanted Reese and Caleb to work through their dilemma. That’s the mark of a great story. She had me from the opening lines.

You won’t want to do anything else once you begin this book. Characters are so real from the beginning. Is it possible for people from completely different backgrounds to be together? Will there be a sequel?

Since you'll have a clause whereby both sides agree to negotiate the formal contract in good faith, you have effectively tied up the asset without a dime! Google "letter of intent" and you'll see samples to use for form. Then make sure to use this ebook to fill out content and make it understandable.

I was uncertain as to whether I am an empath until I took the test. Oh boy, I am, however, a healthy one at that because I am older & wiser. I am not a co-dependent. I was. Now I am an independent. I was in an abusive relationship for 20 years. Left that long ago. I have no addictions except chocolate. I do recognized parasitic relationships & steer clear of those, but it has. taken work to become enlightened. This book would have made the process much faster. Read it if you think you may be one. It is quick & easy to read.

Basically it just confirmed many of the thoughts that I had on the on this issue. Gave me a few new insights on relationships.

Loved this little book. I felt like it summed me up in a nutshell and talked about a lot of the problems I face as a empath. It also has a quiz to determine your level of empathy.

I appreciate the meat without the blah blah blah included into some self help books. Easy and quick to read.

I felt there wasn’t enough content to justify the price. The majority of the content was repeated in the different sections. The author had the opportunity to really help empathy instead diminished their feelings by not providing information that would help with coping skills.

I was really disappointing to open my package and find this thin book for the price. I havent even read it yet but was just upset, I quess maybe I didnt fully read the description but it was not worth the price they are charging for it

I just finished reading this book and it was truly a wonderful and emotional ride to read this. I've read a few other Nicholas Sparks books before but never has one moved me like this one has. The Longest Ride follows two couples and ends up with how their lives intertwine. It's almost a novel of fate, because some of the characters' lives wouldn't have ended up how they did without another series of events. The main storyline is between Luke and Sophia. Luke is a cowboy who rides bulls for a living and Sophia is a college senior at Wake Forest. Normally they wouldn't have met but because they did, their lives were forever changed. The second plotline is between Ira and his late wife, Ruth. Ira is an elderly man who winds up in a horrible car accident. His wife appears to him while he lies helpless in his car, urging him to stay alive a little while longer. They end up reliving tales of their life, otherwise known as the longest ride. Ira and Ruth's story only spans a couple days while Luke and Sophia's is several months; however, both of them combine to produce a powerful and emotional novel of love. This book was so amazingly written. A few parts made me laugh, several pulled at my heartstrings and some even made me cry. I devoured this novel and loved it so much I may even end up re-reading it which is something I rarely do. I HIGHLY recommend reading this novel, whether you are a fan of Nicholas Sparks or not. It's a beautiful novel about the power of love and the path your life can take when you meet that one special person who will walk with you on the longest ride.

I absolutely loved the movie, so I thought I would give the book a try. However, even though I did like some things in the book and it even explained and gave some background knowledge of certain things that happened in the movie, the movie was way better. In the book neither one of them at Ira until it was already 80% over, you didn't revisit Ira's life through letters he had written to Ruth, but rather through his own thoughts when he was stuck in the car. I was really saddened by this because one thing I really liked about the movie was how Sophia and Ira became friends. I did like that it took a little longer for Sophia and Luke to really become a couple, they took it a little slower in the book and I liked that, it kind of built up the passion a bit. Those that care to know, they do make love in this book, but it's not explicit at all. It basically just says they made love and that was it for those scenes. After reading this book, I don't think I'll be reading anymore of Nicholas Sparks books, but I will most definitely by the movies. I'm not sure why he has such a difference between his books and his movies, but the last four movies have been so much better than the books that he has written. For me to say that is amazing, because I almost always like the book much better than the movies, but for him it's been the opposite for a while now. I do think this book was worth reading, but I will say that if I read the book before watching the movie, I probably will not have watched the movie which would have been a mistake because the movie was amazing.

I’ve had a long reading relationship with Nicholas Sparks, and the best way I can describe it is Incredible!!. Going into his each of his books, I never doubt he has a fantastic story to tell. As with all of his books, you get to know the characters, Their lives, feeling, and all their emotions as if experiencing them yourselves. I usually cry reading every one of his books (whether from happiness or sorrow) an did so again with this one.Thankfully, The Longest Ride was absolutely perfect! This novel is definitely my favorite by Sparks and I canNOT wait to see the movie.The Longest Ride shares two parallel stories that I’ll only touch upon briefly because I don’t want to give anything away.The first story is of Ira Levinson, who is a ninety-one year old widower that has careened off a snowy embankment and is stranded waiting for help. As the hours and cold set in, the outlook is bleak and daunting. However, it’s during Ira’s most desperate moments that his wife Ruth that passed away nine years ago appears to him and together they reminisce about the life they shared together prior to her passing. This is the story we all dream of…That’s one in a life-time love…Ira and Ruth story was my all time favorite.The second story occurs miles away between a cowboy, bull-rider named Luke and a college student named Sophia. They meet at a rodeo and soon strike up an unbreakable bond and heartfelt romance that’s not without its fair share of struggles and hardships.As these storylines progress, we get to know these two couples and all the while ponder how Sparks will merge their lives. Well, let me end by saying this, the crossroads for their stories was an amazing moment, and the twist at the end had me smiling, guffawing and pining to see the movie.The Longest Ride is one of Sparks rare moments where I didn’t have the urge to fling the book out the window. Loved it!
