I'm probably going to get throttled for this - but I wasn't impressed with the hero. It's weird - because starting out, he seemed like he was caring and had a special spot for the heroine....then he just became this jerk. I mean, here she is, the actual victim, and he's all "me, me, me" and just a total a-hole.The sex scenes were hot.***SPOILER*****::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::There is a trigger scene - if you don't like your hero's sharing, watch out.****END SPOILER*****Overall this book was just okay. The heroine is in a sticky situation (to say the least) and the hero and his group jump in to save her. Although, the question on if she's really out of trouble or not remain throughout the book. I don't feel like I really saw these two falling in love. Maybe it's just because of the hardness of the hero, but I felt like they were fighting and then just in love. I dunno...Also, the heroine was tough in her head, but not with her body. She just bent to the hero's whim whenever he demanded it.This is the book where The Last Rider series and The VIP Room series really connect for the readers.I'd recommend this book, but only with a warning that the hero, while Alpha and possessive, is a jerk. JUST IN MY OPINION

What can I say, I love Jamie Begley! If you have not read her series I strongly suggest you read the books in order as there is a lot of overlap in the different series. This book, along with its sister book Teased (VIP Room 1) can be read as stand alones. At least I think they can. But again, I strongly suggest you read Jamie's books in the suggested order, which is kind of convoluted. But makes perfect sense if read as suggested! I enjoyed this book a lot. It has dark themes, such as kidnapping, sexual slavery and trafficking. Not subjects that are pleasant for anyone to read, but Jamie does a wonderful job of dealing with the subjects in a way that gives the reader the ability to know they are part of the story, but does not define the story itself. As with all JB books there is great character development, making you fall in love with not only the leads but many of the secondary characters as well as hot sex. Yep, hot sex. If you don't like very sexual books, Jamie is NOT the author for you. If you DO, one click away! Wonderful read, highly recommend.

Sawyer's story is full of surprises and entwines with the Last Rider's series! I love how Ms. Begley has interconnected the characters from the VIP Room series and the Last Rider's series! Sawyer and Kaden are funny how they first try to fight the attraction and then Sawyer even harder than Kaden. They are just so right for each other. Sawyer and Vida have had such a heartbreaking past, so when they finally are able to reunite you are so happy for them. Vida and Colton were an awesome couple from the first book in the VIP Room series. These characters struggled through terrible pasts and survived, becoming caring, sweet and so loving of their friendships. Great series but you may also want to read the Last Riders series to get more stories of other characters in these books! Jamie weaves a story, keeping you turning the pages, wanting to know what is going to happen next. You will laugh, feel heartbreak and fall in love with these characters!

Sometimes books you like right away some others you have to think about and process. Tainted was like that for me. At the beginning I was not sure if I like Sawyer or Kaden. She was a little too "innocent" about her situation. Did she think she could just walk away and really fought someone she shouldn't. SPOILER. For goodness sack she was kidnapped and while the idiot manager was responsible for the sitaation Kaden and the band were trying to help her. At being said Kaden was a bit of an anti hero-- not as likable as some of other Jamie's heroes. But Kaden grows on you- he is open with Sawyer about what he wants and doesn't play games. I really liked that-- he was not a man white (anymore) and I loved how he was with Sawyer once they became a couple. I really ended enjoying the book and loved the end-- he gave Sawyer whatvshe needed and wanted in a very special way.

Kaden is a rock star. He's back helping out his band after quitting. RJ, the manager, thought it'd be a good idea to hire some prostitutes. He had no interest until he stumbled onto Sawyer. Sawyer has been kidnapped and all she wants is to get back to Vida, her best friend. Kaden comes up with a plan to save her, but she can't know. Vida feels like she traded one prison for another. Confused at the feelings he bring out in her, she struggles until it's almost to late. Kaden is fighting demons from his past, but he knows one thing, Sawyer will be his. Loved it!

Ranger says the “love” word to Stephanie, but it is Morelli at the end, offering her a pink, lacy thong. In the first few pages, Evanovich both catches readers up on the hilarious and cockeyed history of the preceding 15 books and gives fans a little more of everything they want, including the return of beloved stoner Mooner. in this installment of the Stephanie Plum series, she has inherited her Uncle Pip's lucky bottle and this may not be her good luck charm as she may soon be unemployed. Cousin Vinnie has run up a huge debt with his bookie, who in turn is heavily indebted to a mobster. When Vinnie disappears the ransom is the huge sum, with interest. To save her job, and the business, Stephanie, Lula, and Connie must raise the money while trying to track down where Vinnie is held to free him while they try to raise the huge sum of money. Vinnie's rich father in law is no help as Vinnie's wife threw him out just before he was kidnapped. The usual plot lines include demolished cars and Ranger saves. Still a five star story

I am reading/rereading this series & to this point, this is the best & most interesting book of all.Tho I am sure that each book could be read as a stand alone novel, why would anyone WANT to do thaaat?Knowing each character a little bit better - as each story passes along, the enjoyment magnifies.Even if one has to purposefully ignore the standard ploys, such as the heroine "requiring" 2 boyfriends who cannot be chosen between ... etc, this series is STILL an enjoyable series of stories, which have few equals.My rules are: Interests me, Avoids in-ur-face violence or sex, Makes me smile or laugh sometimes ... probably other stuff that will come to me later😊

Stephanie Plum is a bond enforcement agent, working for her cousin Vinnie. She is not the best bounty hunter but because of her tenacity and just plain stubbornness, she always seems to track her skips down and eventually apprehends them. Which is pretty good considering she typically does not have her gun with her, and even if she did it most likely wouldn't have bullets in it. She is constantly losing her cuffs, forgets to charge her stun gun every night and caries around extra hold hair spray in lieu of pepper spray.With this book, her skips included a man wanted for polygamy, a toilet paper bandit, and a drug dealer with a pet alligator name Mr. Jingles. Her biggest challenge is to rescue her cousin Vinnie from the mob with the help of Lula (who was at one time a prostitute) and Connie (office manager). If you like stories with 6 ft alligators, a stampede of cattle running through the streets of Trenton and the thought of hobbits crusading to the rescue, then I recommend this book it is very entertaining and has some hilarious moments with laughter.Based on the previous series with the Stephanie Plum character, the plot included Lula too much and not enough of Ranger the ex-military mentor and the homicide cop boyfriend Joe Morelli. It also could have included more of the crazy character grandma Muzar.

Stehanie's boss Vinnie is kidnapped by Bobby Sunflower who wants a million dollars to set him free. His wife does not care and his family does not want to pay to get Vinnie back. Stephanie, Connie and Lula do not have that kind of money, but they will do anything in their power to set their boss free and keep their jobs.I am always entertained by Stephanie Plum's books but this one did not feel as entertaining. I liked the plot, Vinnie is tossed around and the continuity seems fine, but I did not find myself laughing at the situations. I like that Connie is playing a bigger part in the book and that they act more as a team. But it was not as fun and I mostly read these because they make me laugh, hence the three stars.

Wow, that's a long summary! I understand that there are a lot of people who were disappointed with Sizzling Sixteen. You cannot approach the Stephanie Plum series expecting the rules of the "real world" to apply. That's why these books are the perfect summer reads: they are light-hearted, funny, sometimes silly, and totally implausible. Implausible, you say? Yes! In what dimension can you: Eat everything you want and not gain weight Blow up/wreck/irreversibly damage multiple cars Have an ongoing sexual-tension filled flirtation with two unbearably sexy men and never have either one of them give you an ultimatum Be saved from danger by grown adults dressed up as hobbits Never load your gun but manage to get away unharmed every time you're taken hostage (at least one time per book) Distract an alligator with fried chicken...can you see how I could keep going with this?If anyone knows a place where things like this actually happen, sign me up---I want to live there. Especially if Ranger will be there too...Just One Gripe:The plot is kind of weak, as usual. This is overshadowed by the fact that the series is so funny.The Best Thing About This Book:I read the Stephanie Plum series for the humor. They are laugh-out-loud hilarious! I bust out laughing at least five times per book and Sizzling Sixteen did not disappoint in that respect. Grandma Mazur, Lula, Mooner, the Hobbits, all of it was awesome!

From my six year old son: I like this book as it teaches you how to play and get ahead in Minecraft. It teaches you secrets like how to fight people and monsters.

My girls have recently gotten into Minecraft on their iPad Minis and have been completely obsessed. They want to play all the time. Most of the time they are just messing around on it. We asked them if they would be interested in some books about Minecraft and they jumped at the chance. We purchased the Minecraft Essential Handbook and the Minecraft Construction Handbook for them and they loved them. They share the books back and forth and flip through them to get ideas for building things. They are using the iPad Pocket Edition that doesn't have all the bells and whistles that the PC version has, but these books are still good for general guidance and ideas. They are great beginner books to get them thinking about other things they can create. There are three other official books and a compilation of all of them if you want even more. If you have a beginner at Minecraft, these books are worth a look.

I bought this for two of my grandsons. One is 8 and the other is 9. They have played Minecraft for several years. They play it on the Xbox 360. They have both been reading this book and have pointed out things they didn't know. Some of the information is geared towards things not yet included in the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. Xbox 360 is supposed to have an update in the near future that this information will apply to. The majority of the information in this book applies to the Xbox 360 version.I would definitely recommend it for beginners. I also ordered the other 3 books that go with this one. "Minecraft: Redstone Handbook", "Minecraft: Combat Handbook" and "Minecraft: Construction Handbook.".

I remember when I was younger and loving video games, heck I still do. I also remember wanting the guide books to go with them, it was like a virtual adventure lol.When my 7 year old daughter asked for the two Minecraft books, I was skeptical because video game guide books when I grew up were usually made by Prima and cost $20-$30. Come to find out, even at B&N they were less than $9 I decided to get them for her. She loves Minecraft and the books, she reads them and reading is educational and improves her reading comprehension regardless of the material.I highly recommend these for any Minecraft fan. The quality of the hardcover is far greater than I expected for spending less than $5 for them.

Not easy reading for a pre-teen. Small type and hard to follow, our 10-year old is considered an A+ reader in 4th grade in his school—- book required an adult to help explain words and phrases. Many of which I could not really understand, I think this text is more for a serious experienced gamer.

My 6 year old son is mad about mine craft and saw this book at his school book fair. It was cheaper to purchase on amazon and after much pleading I finally ordered it. I gave this 5 stars based on how thrilled my son is with this book. He carries it around with him as if it were sacred text. I cannot speak for the information contained in it or how useful it is for someone who plays mine craft. T he book is the perfect size for my little man and the hardbound book is holding up well. It is amazing watching kids stuck in book for days...even if it is to learn a video game. I personally am not a fan of minecraft but my 8 year old says it has tons of helpful hints in it and she is constantly pulling it off the shelf.

This was purchased for a 7 year old that loves Minecraft. It is a great reference while playing the game. Definitely a must for Minecraft kid. This was a Christmas present. PrefaceThe Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1986 are the most sweeping legislative changes in the history of the public water supply field and will have more of an impact than the original act passed over two decades ago. These legislative changes reflect a perception by Congress that there is a great amount of public anxiety over the quality of our drinking water, as well as frustration with the manner in which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) enforced the requirements of the original act. Practicing engineers and utility managers who are involved with the planning, design, and operation of water treatment plants must begin to evaluate current options and anticipate what lies ahead. At the present time, many programs in civil and environmental engineering at numerous universities are offering courses in the area of water treatment plant design.Several excellent books have been written in recent years that present theory and principles of water treatment processes. The authors have observed during their years of experience in the water treatment field that no publication has been devoted entirely to water works engineering planning, design, and operation. The intent of the authors in developing this book is twofold: first, to consolidate the developments in design of water works engineering that have evolved as a result of technological advancement in the field and of the concepts and policies promulgated by the environmental laws and the subsequent guidelines; second, to develop step-by-step procedures for planning, design, and operation of a medium-size conventional water treatment plant.This book has a total of nineteen chapters and four appendices. Chapters 1 through 4 are devoted to the basic facts of water engineering. Current and future trends in water treatment technology, water quality constituents, design factors, drinking water regulations, unit operations and processes, process combinations, and process trains are discussed in detail.Chapter 5 is devoted to preparation of a predesign report. The general purpose of a predesign engineering report and an example of a model predesign report for a medium-size water supply project are presented. In this predesign report, procedures are presented for (1) estimation of population, water demand, plant capacity, and raw water quality; (2) evaluation and selection of a treatment process train; (3) coordination with distribution system; and (4) estimation of costs for proposed capital improvement project.The remainder of the book is devoted to the design of the medium-size water treatment facility for which the predesign report is developed in Chapter 5. Step-by-step design calculations; equipment details; engineering drawings, plans, and specifications; and operation and maintenance of head works, raw water transport, treatment, and distribution systems: all are presented. These systems include raw water intake, screening, pump station, transport pipeline, flow measurement, rapid mix, flocculation, clarification, filtration, color, taste and odor control, disinfection, distribution, and residuals handling and disposal. Also, separate chapters have been devoted to plant layout, yard piping and hydraulics, instrumentation and automatic controls, design summary, and the avoidance of design errors. A separate chapter (Chapter 18) is provided to cover nonconventional treatment processes. In this chapter, the treatment processes for nitrate and fluoride removal, ion exchange, reverse osmosis, and heavy metals and organics removal are briefly presented.The design procedures given in this book are for illustration and general information only and are not intended to be used as standard for water treatment plant designs. References made in this publication to specific methods, processes, and equipment do not constitute or imply an endorsement or recommendation. Equivalent or improved equipment may be obtained from many other manufacturers not mentioned in this publication.This book will serve the needs of students, teachers, consulting engineers, equipment manufacturers, and technical personnel in city, state, and federal organizations who must review designs and specifications. In order to maximize the usefulness of this book, the material has been presented in a simplified and concise format. Many tables have been developed using a variety of sources. Decent book for water design. It has a long design example that continues into each chapter. Tons of information that is still relevant today even though this book was printed in 2000. However, it's in desperate need of an update. There are a ton of typos that you're left wondering how could they have missed them. That's not even the worst part. The binding on the paperback is horrible. DO NOT purchase the paperback. I used this book no more than a dozen times and it has split in half. Pages are all over the place. To use this book I would have to take it to FedEx/UPS to get this professionally bound. Look for the hardcover version if you really want this book.

Why did the post office not drop my package home? I had to struggle before I get an opened package! The book has a poor quality, I've lost many pages within one month of use.

I think that this book is really really good for those involved in water supply and water treatment especially environmental and civil engineers. All the concepts are there. Many books focus mainly on the theory, but this book is very useful for practical and application purposes. I think only the 2000 edition of S Kuwamura's book "Integrated Design and Operation of Water Treatment Facilities" comes close to matching the usefullness of this book for engineers dealing with water treatment design. I say this book is definetely worth buying, and for me, who is an environmental engineer dealing with water treatment, this book has come in so handy, that I always keep it in the office. It is really good to see a great book being published which comes in so handy to engineers when designing.

Till the arrival of this book, there have been five books commonly used by consulting engineers for the design of water treatment plants. Water and Wastewater Engineering by Fair/Geyer/Okun (1968), Water Treatment Plant Design by Sanks (1978), Water Treatment Principles and Design by James M. Montgomey, Inc.(1985), Integrated Design of Water Treatment Facilities by S. Kawamura (1991), and Water Treatment Plant Design by AWWA/ASCE (1998). As evident from the dates of publication of above mentioned books, most of them are 10-20 years old except for last one. Some of the above books needs a companion book in order to fully understand theory behind unit processes in environmental engineering. Another drawback with some design books is that they do not provide step-by-step procedure for planning, design, and operation of water treatment plant.Water Works Engineering by Qasim, Motley, and Zhu has a total of nineteen chapters, and four appendices. Chapter 1 through 4 are devoted to the some fundamentals of water engineering. Chapter 5 deals with the preparation of a predesign report. The remainder of the book is devoted to the design of medium-size water treatment plant. It covers step-by-step design calculations; equipment details; engineering drawings; and operation and maintenance of head works, raw water transport, treatment, and distribution systems. Separate chapters have been devoted to plant layout, yard piping and hydraulics, instrumentation and automatic controls, design summary, and the avoidance of design errors.Inclusion of more detailed description of laboartory tests for predesign studies would have been better. The book does not talk much about the the commonly used softwares in water works.Overall, this book is an excellent manual for design engineers in water industry. Its step-by-step procedures for the design of water treatment plants and its in-depth coverage for the entire conventional water treatment plant is the strongest feature of this publication.

Sarah Carter is a professor and H. M. Tory Chair at the University of Alberta s history and classics department and a member of the faculty of Native studies. Instead of diving right into the book review I'd like to first take the time to share a piece of a conversation that took place between me and my kiddos. I was reading aloud a book to my kiddos when the questions started coming in. I encourage questions because that's how we learn. Eventually we got onto the topic of the importance of reading. Hitler and the book burning was brought up. As well as the Roman Catholic Church and the Latin Bible. If history has taught us anything it's that an illiterate society is an easily controlled society. 1984 anyone? Before heading over here to write I watched a YouTube video where the person was talking about how they had too many books and needed to downsize. It left me dumbfounded. They barely had anything!!! Seriously! Downsize books?! Are you kidding me?! NEVER!!!! BOOKS ARE LIFE!!! LONG LIVE THE BOOKSHELF!!! Books are a gateway to another world! There you can be a princess in a castle fighting a dragon or being rescued from it, whatever your taste You can be little boy living in the jungle! You can learn things you wouldn't know otherwise such as ladybugs are really carnivores! Books are knowledge. Books are powerful. Well my rant is long enough and not any where near be completed so I'll just have to end it with BUY MORE BOOKS. BUY THEM ALL!!! Onto the review....Montana Women Homesteaders was a gift to me from my husband. He knows me so well! The book consists of letters from homesteading women in the early 1900s. Some of the women have a borderline feminist attitude but they are the exception not the rule. Most were just thrown a curve ball in life such as a husband's death. They had no choice but to make lemonade out of lemons. Life is not a walk in the park. There are bad times and good times, both of which these women were no strangers too. The women faced hard times such as drought, crop failure, delivering babies without proper knowledge, ill animals and sometimes the loss of the animals just to name a few. It's a firsthand account of survival and will power. Homesteading, especially back in the day, was not for the faint of the heart. If your crops failed you, you couldn't run to the store and buy back up produce. You most likely weren't even lucky enough to have a neighbor that had food to share. You had to survive on what you had. At times the women faced starvation. The women weren't always alone. Some had lady friends, children, brothers, mother's, etc join them on their stead but it was registered in their name and they were the sole care taker of the place. There was no pattern in ages. Some were young and some were old but they all shared one thing, the will to live. They survived. They shared their stories. They shared their pictures. They shared their documents. It's a humbling read of history. While it is history it is not your highschool dry textbook. Pick it up. You'll be amazed at the strength of the women and will be ever so grateful for what you have. Also you won't see these women running around burning bras or crying for safe spaces. These are the real powerful women. They didn't think low of men. Some actually rather that their man was still alive so he could handle the dirty work and stress of life on a homestead in Montana. They did amazing things despite hardships thrown at them. It's a great book. You won't regret reading it.

I just finished this book, and really loved it. The book devotes a chapter to each of a dozen or so women who filed claims on free land in Montana in the late 1800s to the 19-teens. They were required to live on the land and improve it (with crops, fencing and a house) for five years before getting the title to it. They were also required to be single, divorced, abandoned or otherwise heads of their households, as married women didn't qualify for land.The book contains quite a few pictures of these tough women and their homesteads, and diary entries and letters from several of them. I am amazed that anybody could "prove up" a claim in that terribly dry, isolated place. The hunger, heat, cold, wind, sand, lack of water, crop failure, loss of livestock, lack of feminine companionship, and lack of medical care caused so many homesteaders to give up, and yet these women stayed and flourished.If you enjoy books about the settling of the American West and the pioneer spirit, you will love this book!

The book: "Montana Women Homesteaders; A Field of One's Own" is a subject that needed to be explored. These women were resourceful, adventurous and brave. Especially eastern Montana has to be seen and experienced to begin to understand what these women faced. One of them, Catherine Calk McCarty, was well known to us. It was her sharing her stories (being caught in a blizzard and having to give the horses their 'head' that got them safe to shelter. Or, being followed to her homestead by a lone rider who stayed in her corral for most of the night.) that led to our encouragement for her to write her story.I recommend this book to those who wish to learn about the settling of the west and the courage required to be one of the settlers, especially the women who came.

This was an amazing book. I read parts of it over and over. I think about these women and their struggles. Who knew these homesteading women even existed? We think we struggle today until you read about the pioneer women who helped settle this country.

This book has some fascinating accounts of the hardships endured by early 20th century single women homesteaders. Some of the writing is rather dry; others are very well written. Overall an interesting topic which I knew nothing about.

Very good book. I will be reading it again - interesting stories of how life was for these homesteading women.

A story of less than 20 of the female pioneer homesteaders in Montana. All but one of the homesteads were east of the Continential Divide and north of the Yellowstone River. This part of Montana is truly the "big sky" country, with continual winds of 10 to 40 mph, summer temperatures above 100 and winter temperatures at 40 or 50 below. Life was difficult in a one-room "prove-up" shack, with only coal for heat, water which had to be "hauled" or hand pumped from a well and an "outdoor privie" odorous in summer and skin-peeling cold in the winter. One of the women homesteaders lived Turner, the town where I spend the first year of my life.

About the Author

Jane Worroll is a qualified Level 3 Forest School leader, running, with Peter Houghton, year-round Forest School sessions for children in London and elsewhere. She has worked outside for the majority of her adult life, in gardening, tree surgery and, for 12 years, as a Countryside Ranger, a role that included habitat management, monitoring protected species and leading volunteers. She has a degree in ecology as well as an MSc in environmental conservation. Peter Houghton is also a qualified Level 3 Forest School leader. At a charity supporting vulnerable inner-city children and young people, he worked as an artist (in woodwork and other media) and as a key worker, as well as leading Forest School sessions. He is qualified and experienced in historical and ornamental woodcarving and in green woodwork.

A sort of handbook of activities to do in the woods/forest, in every season, with every weather and with kids of every ages. Great ideas for those who may be new to the field of outdoor education and even a great little resource for children to thumb through due to great drawings

I'm personally interested in quite a few of these activities, even as an adult. They have activities mostly groups as Age 3+, 4+, and 6+ in the book. It's an easy to read book and I would say this book is a nice compilation of items that I don't even have on my Pinterest board of a similar theme. I'll give it a five stars.

This suspenseful tale was better than a lot of James Patterson’s stories. Certainly, I found nothing that stood out in a negative way. I think one reason it was such a good page turner was the point of view.POV: First person from the view of the heroine, a wife and mother who is one of the first female Army Rangers.BLUSH FACTOR: with just a single eff word (page 41), I think this could be a story for any audience. Perhaps PG-13 for many, but, frankly, the language is pretty typical of that heard spoken throughout our society. At any rate, I would feel comfortable reading it to anybody.AUTHENTICITY: Yes, to my ears it comes across as believable.BOTTOM LINEFour stars out of five. I enjoyed reading it and expect it to, someday, become a major motion picture.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great storyline with well developed characters. Kept me on the edge until the end of the story

Sometimes we forget how important and irreplaceable families are. Patterson takes two approachs in this book to reinforce this truth. He clearly demonstrates how painful it is for one to have no family and again how painful the thought of losing ones family can be to the other.

Well I was pulled in again, by a great description of this new book. I should have learned my lesson long ago. The last Patterson book I read was disappointing in that it used offensive language, as did this one. Does not bring glory to the book

Well I have read just about everything Patterson has written and he is still one of my favorite. Sometimes I get in a rut and just don't feel like reading. His novels always get me out of that rut. Amy is another of his enduring characters that you just can't wait for the next Book to come out.

Did you expect anything less? About time there are WOMEN being foremost and strong in books. WOMEN are strong in all.

WOW what a good thriller. Could not put the book down till I finished it. Again all the twists and turns in the story line were compelling . I liked the intrigue and flow of this book.

Was sick in bed so I was so happy to see that this had been delivered to my Kindle. The story was riveting from the beginning and I read it in one day. Really enjoyed the fast paced narrative,violence so well described, I could feel myself cringe. Especially liked how the seemingly innocent husband was implicated. Great read
